The Bowlers and Tongue Thrust Reunion
Two legendary Cleveland area bands will reform for one night Friday August 4th at Vosh Lakewood 1414 Riverside Dr, Lakewood, OH.
At West Side clubs like Tommy’s, Hennessy’s and the Phantasy Night Club, the Bowlers were the dance sensation of the early 80’s. Reaching back to the “Frat Rock” music of the 60’s, the Bowlers delivered hits by Sam the Sham, The Swinging’ Medallions, Sir Douglas Quintet, ? & the Mysterians and the more pop side of the British Invasion. Bowling shirts from local Goodwill stores were the fashion of the day among the band and it’s fans alike. The Bowlers were immortalized in an M105 live “Rock Around The Block” taping at Tommy’s. The band reformed previously for shows in 1992 and 2012 and are now doing it again on August 4th at Vosh.
The Bowlers are Don Kriss (guitar), Rich Reising (guitar/organ), Steve Knill (bass) and Don Krueger (drums).
Tongue Thrust has forever been the Bowlers support act, warming up the crowd with it’s blazing set list from Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, The Kinks, the early Stones and other pioneers of rock n roll.
Strong musicians all, the band has the distinction of never having rehearsed once, relying solely on following Don Kriss’s lead on whatever he wanted to play that night.
Tongue Thrust is Don Kriss (guitar), Rick Christyson (guitar), Steve Knill (bass) and Don Krueger (drums).
