In the early 80’s at West Side clubs like Tommy’s, Hennessy’s and the Phantasy Night Club along with Pirates Cove in the Flats, Tongue Thrust played blazing sets of Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, The Kinks, the early Stones and other pioneers of rock n roll. It’s a musical era near and dear to Cleveland music fans hearts.
The band now only makes rare appearances but every one is unique and not to be missed.
Lead singer/guitarist Don Kriss is known to call out audibles so no two sets lists are ever the same. Special guest players, especially drummers, are usually part of the mix making for a fun and entertaining night.
Don has released his own album and a number of singles over the years.
Lead Guitarist Rick Christyson brings an incredibly versatile style to the music seamlessly switching from choppy chords to soaring solos. Rick has played with Don in a number of bands over the years and currently performs in the group Rockport as well.
Drummer Don Krueger and Bassist Steve Knill have played together in a number of bands including Magic, The Bowlers and The Eric Carmen Band over the years along with their Tongue Thrust duties. Don is also a member of Beau Coup who have done a number of gigs recently again.
Joining the show will be Rich Reising (Magic, The Bowlers, The Eric Carmen Band and The Euclid Beach Band). With Rich on keyboards and guitar, there will a reunion set with “the Bowler’s” performing surf/garage/frat-rock classics.
