Red Hawk has been soaring around central Ohio for nearly a decade playing the music it loves to play and its fans love to hear. Red Hawk is generally considered to be an Americana band, but its sound is impossible to label. For the band members, it’s the song that counts. If it’s a good song — whether it is bluegrass, country, rock or pop — you’ll likely hear it during one of their performances.
Now featuring a few original songs to go along with crowd-pleasing covers, this band is worth seeing. That’s because they have so much damn fun playing live and their music puts folks in a good mood. As singer and guitarist Amy Evans likes to say, “We are three chords with an attitude!”
Evolving through the years as it developed its rich, complete sound, Red Hawk consists of Jon Barth (vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and keyboard), Amy Evans (vocals and acoustic guitar), Jason Turpening (vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, harmonica, and mandolin), Scott Eaton (drums and percussion), and Ron Wheeler (acoustic and electric bass).
The band has been on stage around Columbus, including Halftime Tavern, The Winking Lizard, Bethel Road Pub, India Oak and Harrison’s. In addition Red Hawk has been featured at McCune Ridge Folk Festival and Hoofprint Music Festival. Red Hawk has a loyal following that enjoys having a good time no matter where they are. Go Hawk!
